Small Business Training

Computer Training

Microsoft applications are an inexpensive, efficient and effective way to operate a small business.  If you are an aspiring or current business owner, these trainings will teach you how to operate your business on a small business budget.  Here are a few examples of operational techniques for small businesses using Microsoft applications.

  • Microsoft Excel can be used to perform bookkeeping, maintain client/customer information, track sales orders, create invoices/timesheets, and more!

  • Microsoft Word can be used to create business cards, sales proposal letters, press releases, mail merges, logo designed letterhead & envelopes, flyers, and more!

  • Microsoft Outlook can be used to maintain vendor/networking contact information, schedule meetings, remind you of upcoming appointments and keep you efficient while your on-the-go through blackberry interface capabilities.

Bookkeeping

Accounting for businesses is much more than filing taxes.  Proper accounting can mean the difference between achieving the success of Donald Trump or spending time in jail like ENRON executives.  I'm sure we can all agree that while orange might be a nice color no one wants to wear that jumpsuit.  So get your business on the right track now!

At Out of Time, we believe in equipping business owners with:

(i) the knowledge they need to understand the accounting aspects of their business and

(ii) the tools they need to learn how to operate their business more efficiently.

As a business owner you should understand how your everyday business decisions effect your money.  Don't wait until your accountant does your taxes to determine if you've made good financial decisions.

Business Development

While the concept of a business plan is great (and highly recommended), it is often ineffective long-term.  As a small business, especially within the first 7 years of operations, there are so many changes to your strategy, customer demographics, industry and economic environment that it becomes almost impossible to follow the original plan.  We provide you with the tools you need to operate efficiently, effectively and successfully throughout the life of your business.

What exactly do we do?

We offer business development coaching.  Business development coaching is a hybrid concept combining training and consulting designed to assist small business owners in improving their bottom line, become more efficient and free up some personal time

How do we do it

Step 1 - Training:  Using principles of time management and strategic management our business development training is designed to align your thinking, decision making strategies and actions to ultimately reach your financial business goals.

Step 2 - Personal consultations - We work with you to develop your short-term and long-term financial business goals, develop objectives and provide regular coaching.

Your personal business consultant will

  • Monitor your progress toward achieving each objective,

  • Work with you to incorporate any changes that occur in your goals or business operations,

  • Provide you with resources to assist you with growth/expansion,

  • Offer tips for efficiency improvements

and of course

  • Celebrate in the success of each major milestone!

Does it really work?

That's the best part!  The concept has already been proven.  When you know that someone is monitoring your progress and providing regular support, you are more likely to stay focused.  For example, personalized follow-up is the reason that people who have personal trainers or dieticians achieved their desired results vs. those trying to exercise and diet on their own. Combining this components of personal consultations, with the principles we teach you, creates the formula for success!

Bookkeeping challenge!

On Dec 27, 2008, a customer purchases your product over the internet using their credit card and pays $50 ($45 + 5 shipping).  You just got a large order in from a big franchise company and haven't had the time to ship the product to your internet customer.  You look at your bank statement and see the credit card funds have been received into your account on Dec 30th 2008.  You ship the product on Jan 2nd 2009, your internet customer receives the order on Jan 4th 2009 and is extremely happy.

What date do you record the sale transaction for the internet customer?

What is the amount of the sales income?

What year do you record the income for tax purposes?

If you cannot answer these questions with confidence, then you need our training!

Email us or sign up for our training for the answers.
